The say breakfast is the most important meal of the day and believe it or not, there’s more ways to enjoy meat with your breakfast than in a full English – and we’re not talking bacon sandwiches.
We’ve put together a list of our favourite early-morning meals that will be sure to get your day off to a good start.
Steak and Eggs
A hearty, meaty breakfast favoured by our American friends, steak and eggs offer a low carb, high protein feast to get your day off to a ‘cracking’ start.
The best steak cuts for breakfast are flank or sirloin. These are slightly tougher cuts of meat that can be sliced thinly, making them ideal for breakfast cooking. Simply season your steak with salt and pepper, cut it into thin strips or tips and fry them along with your eggs.
Serve with grilled tomatoes or creamy sliced avocado for added punch.
Breakfast Pigs in Blankets
Pigs in Blankets are a festive favourite but are often forgotten for the rest of the year, but this recipe promises to keep you ticking over until the big day. A great idea from Recipetips.com we’d recommend our <confirm> sausages as the ideal ingredient for this.
With a homemade pancake making a perfect ‘blanket’, it also gives you reason to serve with maple syrup. Yum.
Eggs Benedict with Bacon
Traditionally an American brunch, Eggs Benedict may not be the healthiest option on this list, but this dish is certain to fill you up when you have a busy day ahead. Toast two halves of a breakfast bun, poach a couple of eggs and cook some delicious Dragon Fine Foods bacon, you have a combination of ingredients that compliment each other perfectly!
Top with some hollandaise sauce and you have yourself a real breakfast treat!
Potato, Egg and Sausage Hash
Our favourite thing about this dish is that it can be prepared in advance, so there’s less to do in the morning. Breakfast hashes are a great way to use up any excess ingredients you may have, and this is one of our favourites.
Simply stir in some finely chopped potatoes to your eggs and milk before adding in some cooked and sliced sausages. Cook for 20-25 minutes, and you may well have just sorted breakfast for the whole week.
Chicken and Spinach Omelette
Chicken for breakfast? Why not, it’s a healthy, delicious protein-filled way to kick-start the day.
The beauty of an omelette is that you can add so many different fillings but we’ve opted for a chicken and spinach omelette. Whisk two eggs and add to a hot frying pan. As the omelette begins to turn a golden colour and become firmer in texture, add cooked chicken, spinach and cheddar (if you wish) to one half of the pan, and flip the other half over to create a ‘lid’ and melt that delicious cheese. Serve and enjoy.
So there you have it, five recipes you can use to really get your day off to a great start!
